ABOUT SUSAN

A lifelong Tulsan and proud graduate of Tulsa Public Schools, Susan Lamkin has spent decades strengthening our schools and neighborhoods through hands-on service and steady leadership. From volunteering in classrooms and libraries to serving on PTA boards across seven TPS districts, Susan has been a constant advocate for students, teachers, and families. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom through years of work with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, New Haven United Methodist Church, and community programs like Meals on Wheels and Reading Partners, all focused on giving back to the Tulsa community.

Since being elected to the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education in 2022, Susan has led with transparency, accountability, and a focus on student outcomes. As Finance Committee Chair and now Board President, she’s helped expand PTAs from 30 to 47 schools, launched Community Connection listening sessions to bring families’ voices into district decisions, and guided the board through implementing new accountability measures following the state audit. Working alongside Superintendent Dr. Johnson, Susan helped secure a National PTA Family Engagement Grant, created a new superintendent evaluation tool, and is leading efforts to shape TPS’s next strategic plan for 2027–2028. Her lifelong commitment to public education is personal. As a mother of four Tulsa Public Schools students and graduates, Susan believes every child deserves an excellent education close to home.
